Song request privacy
Last updated 10 September 2026
What is collected
When you request a song, the service stores the song name, artist, request status and submission time and any optional message you include. A random browser identifier is saved in an essential cookie for up to one year; the database stores a keyed hash of that identifier to limit repeat requests. A separate short-lived cookie identifies your current request.
Why it is used
This information delivers your request to Zak’s private queue and prevents duplicate or excessive requests.
New song requests do not require an Instagram account, a follow, a message or verification. No Instagram notification is requested or sent for these submissions. Older requests made through the previous Instagram flow may retain their existing records until they expire.
Retention and sharing
Verification attempts expire automatically. Request records are kept only as long as reasonably needed to run and protect the queue. They are not sold or used for advertising. Service providers may process the minimum information needed to host the site and database.
Your choices
You can choose not to use the song request feature. To ask about your information or request deletion, email admin@zakkeenan.com.au or follow the data deletion instructions.
